SharePoint Saturday is a free event organized in cities around the World to allow SharePoint end users to attend an all-day session with up to 30 speakers and multiple parallel tracks (IT Pro, Development, Business, Social Media and branding).  The SharePoint Saturday events have become a global not for profit organization with one the primary goal of education.  

The event attracts MVPs, seasoned product experts and new speakers who might not normally have a chance to speak at their local user groups in a timely manner.   All speakers are screened and voted on prior to being accepted to speak.

The SharePoint Saturday Chicago 2009 event had complete budget of $7,200, this cost was covered by sponsors by dividing up items to be sponsored and allowing sponsors to pick up items like printing, rental, breakfast, lunch, sacks, beverages so on and so on.   We couldn’t have these type of events without contributions from sponsors.

My role for the 2010 event in Chicago will be to oversee and lead two additional SharePoint community leaders who will be the primary organizers of the event.  Welcome George Durzi of Clarity Consulting and Chris Geier of K2.
